Senior Boys Volleyball team attended the Kindersley Tournament on Saturday and came home in third place overall.
Wildcats defeated Elrose 2-0; Rosetown 2-0; lost to Oyen 0-2; split with Eston 1-1 and beat Kindersley 2-0. Due to the split with Eston (which we lost by points) we did not make it to the final; Eston and Oyen squared off in the final with Oyen winning. They boys only lost 3 sets all day. For our last three matches we only had six players.

The Dinsmore Composite School's Grade 7/8 class's bi-annual trip to the Cypress Hills Provincial park was an great success again this time around. The class headed out from Dinsmore Monday morning (June 25th) stopping at Swift Current for gas and some DQ. We arrived at Cypress Hills Provincial park and set up our tents in the beautiful Lock Loman area of the park. That evening we went on a horse back trail ride, went to Lookout Point and Bald butte where we hiked and got caught in a rainstorm. The class had supper while waiting for dark so that they could attend the observatory, unfortunately we were hit by another big rainstorm and were unable to look through the telescope due to cloud cover and lightning.
Day 2 saw the class up early and head out to Fort Walsh. The class looked through the interpretive center with Eston school's grade 6's and then headed down to the Fort. As the class arrived they were greeted by a RCMP Corporal (in character) and took them through the Fort as if they were new raw recruits (There may have even been a cannon involved). The class learned some games of the time period and even did some fur trading. After lunch we went on a 6km hike out to the Cypress Hills massacre site and back (An interesting place with a very sad history). The class headed back to their campsites where they changed and had some fun on some paddleboats before having a late supper. The rest of the evening was a mix of games and campfire stories.
After a big couple of days, Day 3 was a slow sleepy start but we all made it to the visitor centre to take in the presentation on the Cypress Hills Geology followed by a lesson on Geocaching with GPS units. The class then headed back to their campsites one last time to pack up, clean up and head out. The class then headed to the Great Sand dunes near Leader where they had fun running and sliding. We hit the Big 10-4 in Leader for ice cream before finally arriving home Wednesday night. What a great trip! A huge thank you goes out to Mrs. Lori Beattie for organizing the trip and to our parent chaperones for accompanying, driving and teaching (Mrs. Joanne Elstad, Mr. Gavin Blackwell and Mr. Cole Flath). We couldn't have gone with out you.
The Dinsmore Composite School Awards night was held on Tuesday June 12th. Thank you to all who attended and congratulations to all those who won. It was an amazing feeling to celebrate all the successes of our students this past year.

This season for Dinsmore Composite School Jr. Badminton was busy for all. With a total of 26 players signed up in the beginning there was a lot of interest. We travelled to Beechy, Kyle, and hosted our own tournament in Dinsmore. Students who atteneded practice gave Ms.Blomert and Mrs. Sobkowicz some much needed entertainment and laughs. We really enjoyed coaching you all this year.
Dylan, Troy, Bailey, Brooklyn, Alisha, Hailley M., Wyatt, Brady, Spencer, Tristen, and Ryan represented DCS at sectionals in Elrose. We have some tough games going to three sets and came out with seven athletes advancing to districts. Dylan, Ryan, Tristen, Logan, Mason, Alisha, and Hailley M. attended districts in Kindersley. This was a great learning experience for all as we saw a high quality of competition. We were complimented for our sportsman ship and our determination and grit during games. Dylan played with incredible determination as he was met with some amazing competition. He never gave up and played as hard as he could. Ryan and Tristen played their hearts our as well and both teams ended up losing out in the round robin. Logan and Mason made it to the play offs but lost to Elrose and gained 4th place overall. Hailley M and Alisha made it through the day undefeated until the gold metal final match. They placed 2nd overall. Congrats to all athletes on their amazing accomplishments and growth this season.
