Dinsmore Composite School
DCS Track team qualified to be a part of West Central District's Track and Field team:
Four members of the DCS Track team qualified to be a part of West Central District's Track and Field team to compete at the SHSAA Provincial Track and Field meet June 2/3. Taylor Ahrends-Burton, Cole Buchanan, Jordyn Mann and Jae Evans competed and represented Dinsmore Composite School so well. On Friday morning Taylor Ahrends-Burton competed in the Midget Boys Hurdles and finished 24th in his first provincials with a time of 18.57s. Cole Buchanan also competing in his first provincials finished 20th in Midget boys Javelin with a throw of 33.57m Friday also saw Jae Evans compete in the 100m and the Long Jump. Jae won the Senior Boys Long Jump with a jump of 6.59m! Jae also ran the 100m 3 times on Friday (Quarterfinals, Semifinals and the Finals) and finished in 7th. Not to be outdone was Jordyn Mann, she won the bronze medal in the senior girls discus on Friday with a throw of 33.26m.
Saturday started with Jordyn throwing Senior girls Javelin. Jordyn was in 4th until her 5th attempt where she launched a beautiful arching throw of 37.86m and won a Silver medal! Jordyn then competed in Shot put, her 3rd event of the Provincial championships. Jordyn threw well but was in 4th place until her last attempt. She exploded with an incredible throw of 11.13m to jump into 1st place to win the Gold medal. By winning a Gold, Silver and a Bronze also put Jordyn into 3rd place in the aggregate race (the most points won by all senior girls at Provincials). Saturday also had Jae Evans in the Senior Boys high jump. Jae jumped great, finishing with a best jump of 1.92m. It tied him with another jumper but because of one more miss throughout the competition Jae finished with a Silver medal. Dinsmore also finished as the 6th best 1A school in the Province with 92 team points. Amazing for just having 4 athletes at the provincials.
Just a great weekend full of incredible performances by our DCS Wildcats. I also want to thank the athletes parents for the support they give their kids. It was so much fun to be a part of as a coach and as a fan.

The district playoffs were in Kyle on February 10th and 11th. Both teams played against Kindersley for the District championship. The girls won with two victories over their rivals. The boys split the first two games with Kindersley and lost the third game so place second. Both teams advanced to regional playdowns in Saskatoon.
The regional playoff was held on March 3rd and 4th. The boys had a good game against St. Walburg but came up short. They then took on a very good squad from North Battleford and were beaten. The girl's first game was against Ille-a-la-Crosse and the team curled well, beating their opponents. Next the girls met a very good team from St. Joseph's in Saskatoon and lost. Finally the girls played Unity. The teams were very closely matched and the score went back and forth. In the end, DCS lost and their season was over.
Thank you to the curlers who were very committed. I enjoyed coaching all of you. Thanks also to the parents for your support.
